During the internship, you get the chance to be part of the department’s process from the moment films are entered until they are presented at the festival. Throughout the internship, you are a central part of the many aspects of the program department’s work, and you will get a broad overview of the functioning of the festival organization as a whole.

  • Processing entry forms in the film database and handling communication around submitted films;

  • Corresponding with directors, producers and sales agents regarding selection;

  • Collecting materials for the festival publications, website and other forms of communication;

Who are we looking for?

  • You have a great affinity for documentary cinema;

  • You are nearing the end of your course of study (usually related to film) and have the time to take up an internship. Your student status must be valid until the end of the internship (December 5).;

  • You work well in a hectic environment, and you are very organized;

  • You are creative, flexible, communicative, stress resistant and work well with others;

  • You don’t mind working longer hours in the weeks leading up to the festival and thrive when you’re working to several strict deadlines;

  • You are a quick learner when it comes to new software, you aren’t afraid of talking on the phone and you speak English fluently;

  • Some knowledge of the Dutch language is an asset but not a requirement.

If a research project is required for your course of study, this can be arranged in consultation with the organization. The Program Department consists of five programmers, a program coordinator, and two program producers. The program coordinator manages the interns and will support you in learning about and working in the Program Department and the rest of the organization.

Candidates from outside of the EU are welcome to apply, provided they have (or can arrange for) a student permit themselves before the start of the internship.

What are we offering?

  • A full-time internship (four days a week) from June 30 until December 5, 2025;

  • If time is needed to attend classes, we can discuss the possibilities;

  • Remuneration is €240 per month for a full-time internship (four days a week), lunch included when working in the office;

  • Flexibility to work from home in discussion with the program coordinator;

  • Travel expenses within the Netherlands are covered if you live outside of Amsterdam during the internship;

  • Travel costs to the Netherlands and accommodation are not covered by IDFA
