Location manager

We're looking for location managers for IDFA 2025!

Temporary · Amsterdam

IDFA 2025 will take place from 13 to 23 November. As always, the heart of the festival is Amsterdam, where more than 200 documentaries are shown in a large number of cinemas and movie theaters from early in the morning until late at night. School performances take place in the mornings and the new media program IDFA DocLab is again present. To manage the ins and outs at all different locations, we are looking for enthusiastic location managers. At IDFA we believe in the power of a diverse team; everyone is welcome to be a part of it.

What are you going to do?

Depending on the size of your location and the intensity of the program, it is run by a combination of location managers and floor managers or only a location manager. The location you are assigned to depends on your preference, experience and availability.

You are the representative of the production department on location, you manage the volunteers, you maintain contact with the location owner, technicians and suppliers and you ensure that the programs can take place according to the timetable.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for enthusiastic and responsible people with experience in festival work who are ready to take on responsibility as location managers.

You are someone who:

  • Has experience managing people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Can stay calm and solution-oriented in hectic situations.

  • Enjoys working in a dynamic festival environment.

Availability

  • You are available for the full festival period: 13–23 November.

  • You can attend the paid training on 8 November in Amsterdam.

  • You want to work at least 7 shifts during the festival.

Driven people with different experiences and personalities work at IDFA. IDFA wants to be an organization that offers space to everyone. Talent as a basis, diversity as a strength to achieve better results. At IDFA we think it's important that you can just be yourself. That's why we are curious who you are!

Is there a fee?

The locationmanager and floormanager are positions for which compensation of € 16,- an hour is available. Next to that you will get a passepartout for the festival and lunch/dinner during shifts. Home-work travel expenses (within the Netherlands) are also reimbursed. In addition, you get a unique look behind the scenes of the festival and the location where you will work, and you can expand your network. This gives you the opportunity to present yourself as a producer to IDFA and possibly grow into a (temporary) position within the production department of IDFA during future festival editions.

It's only possible to apply for this job as a freelancer (ZZP) or Dutch citizen (with BSN). We can pay you through payroll.

Enthusiastic?

You can apply until September 14th. Due to a lot of applications, we can close this earlier. The location producers will invite you for an introductory meeting if applicable. For more information, you can send an email to locatieproductie@idfa.nl.
