Internship(s) Industry

At IDFA we're looking for 2 Industry interns to join our Markets and Guest Services teams.

Part-time · Amsterdam

IDFA is the world’s leading institution dedicated to the art and industry of documentary film and new media. Each November, IDFA presents documentary films and new media projects to around 300.000 visitors. IDFA also organizes activities for professionals that attract around 3.000 international guests.

Here you can watch a recap of what we did in the wider Industry team during the festival last year.

At IDFA we're looking for 2 industry interns to join our Markets and Guest Services teams.

IDFA’s Markets Team supports the documentary sector by providing two market services - IDFA Forum, where filmmaking teams come to find financing and production partners for films they are developing, and  Docs for Sale, our market for completed films looking for distribution opportunities. We are looking for an intern to join our Markets team and support in the administration of these markets leading up to the event, and to assist in the production of the markets during the festival. The position is admin-focused but with unique access to the range of documentaries currently being developed internationally, an overview of recently completed films, and plenty of opportunities to learn more about the documentary industry.

IDFA’s Guest Services Team is responsible for assisting our guests in planning their stay. You will learn how a large festival like IDFA deals with hospitality, find out how the administration works, how budgets are organized, how visa applications work, learn about the partnership with hotels and get insight in services a festival offers to professional guests. You will also get to know the documentary film industry through your contact with filmmakers, producers, sales agents, distributors and your colleagues in other departments within IDFA.

We are keen to create active learning opportunities for our interns, with knowledge sharing on the documentary film industry and current trends relating to it. The intern will be managed by senior colleagues in the Markets & Guest Services teams.
