About the IDFA Bertha Fund

In twenty-six years, the IDFA Bertha Fund has developed into an internationally renowned institution with a broad network supporting over 700 documentaries projects and film organizations from countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Oceania. The Fund aims to support independent, critical, and artistic voices, giving them space for free artistic expression and ensuring relevant and critical filmmaking.

The Fund connects a love for documentary films with the mission of bringing important stories from around the world to a wide audience. It aims to foster a more equal film landscape, give voice to underrepresented filmmakers, and provide richer global perspectives. Each year, the IBF receives nearly 750 project applications, of which 30 can be funded through two different support programs.
